Enter the Mac

My new Macs arrived just before I left to go skiing. That was fortunate, because I took the Macbook Pro away with me, and impressed my friends with the brilliant iPhoto organisation and slideshows.

Of course, the Apple interface is almost completely foreign to me. The last time I used a Mac was with System 8 in high school, and while I enjoyed playing with Hypercard and a few other things, I haven't had the opportunity to learn much more since then.

So as I go along, I'm going to try to write about what I find weird and what I find useful. I'm also going to read more of John Gruber (a frequent commentator on Apple design), so I can link to his eloquent articles rather than repeating them poorly.
